Our Shared Commitment

Successful piano lessons are a collaborative effort between the teacher, student, and parent. I’m committed to providing personalized lessons in an encouraging environment. In return, I ask that students commit to regularly attending and actively participating in lessons, while parents support them by providing an environment that encourages consistent practice and attendance.

What to Expect

My teaching approach is designed to be both rewarding and convenient, with clear expectations and a streamlined process.

Curriculum

Each student gets a custom curriculum tailored to their learning style, musical interests, and personal goals. We’ll train in core fundamentals like performance, technique, sight-reading, and music theory, and also explore genres you love—from classical to pop! I incorporate a variety of games, apps, and technology to make every lesson fun and engaging.

In-Home and Online Lessons

I teach conveniently in your home in San Jose, CA, and neighboring areas. Online lessons are also available both regularly and to accommodate occasional illness or travel, ensuring continuity in your musical progress.

Lesson Structure

Lessons are offered in 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions. The Piano Year runs for 52 weeks, from September 1st to August 31st, and includes 40 weekly lessons. This leaves 12 unbilled weeks throughout the year for my time off for holidays, vacations, illnesses, and other events that may arise. This structure simplifies scheduling for everyone.

Makeup Lessons

Your annual tuition includes a flexible buffer of 2 unbilled lessons to cover occasional student absences due to vacations, illnesses, and other events that may arise. This streamlined approach eliminates the hassle of traditional makeup lessons, providing a stress-free experience and keeping things simple for everyone.

Annual Recital

Our annual recital is an exciting opportunity for students to showcase their skills and build confidence on stage. It’s a celebratory afternoon of music, food, wine, and professional photography! Participation is highly encouraged but not required.

Instrument

Students need a piano at home for both lessons and practice. This can be an acoustic piano or a digital one with weighted keys. I am happy to provide guidance and referrals to local shops if you need to purchase one.

All-Inclusive Annual Tuition

My all-inclusive tuition structure makes the logistics of lessons simple and straightforward. A single annual flat fee covers everything you need for the year, including:

  • A dedicated weekly lesson time
  • Personalized lesson plans and repertoire selection
  • All student books, music and materials
  • Access to subscription-based piano apps
  • Recital participation and professional photos
